Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for excellence in distribution management? Our client, a leading company in the chilled goods sector, is seeking a dedicated Distribution Manager to oversee operations in their distribution centre. This facility accommodates up to 1,000 pallets across various channels, including post-manufacture handling, direct eCommerce sales, and shipping to twenty countries through deep sea, container, and groupage methods. The eCommerce sales are in the super-premium category, requiring meticulous attention to detail and white glove treatment, contributing to a highly diverse and active work environment.


The Role:

As the Distribution Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our client's distribution centre. This position demands a hands-on leader who can manage and motivate a diverse team, ensuring the efficient handling and distribution of high-value products. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the distribution process, from receipt and storage to dispatch, while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and operational excellence.


Your primary focus will be to ensure the on-time delivery of products in perfect condition, meeting the exacting standards of the super-premium eCommerce sector. You will manage daily transportation logistics, optimise warehouse space and maintain accurate inventory levels. Additionally, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the distribution centre, contributing to cost reduction and service delivery improvements.

  • Effectively manage a team of warehouse staff, ranging from 6 to 70 people, in a multi-channel distribution facility, including direct-to-consumer and made-on-demand operations.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of the correct products in perfect condition; deliver the WOW factor to retail customers and support effective communication.
  • Oversee receipt, storage, and dispatch of all materials from the manufacturing site or purchased for stock, including finished goods and goods for resale.
  • Optimise warehouse space utilisation to maintain stock at optimum levels.
  • Achieve and maintain high levels of customer service by meeting KPIs such as on-time delivery, on-time in full, distribution cost per case or tonne, stock accuracy and non-conformance report rectifications.
  • Utilise different inventory management systems flexibly.
