ALNCO Role for September

Excell Supply are looking for a qualified ALNCO to work within a learning environment for children diagnosed with Autism. This is a permanent role which will be based in Mold, Flintshire, due to start in September.

This is a rewarding leadership role which will require overseeing all ALN and examination coordination for the school, implementing all necessary legislation, organising reviews and developing IDPs for students.

The ALNCo duties include:

Identify and meet the needs of pupils with ALN.

Work with the seniors ensuring the strategic co-ordination of ALN resources, such as in deploying and supporting staff and deciding on the appropriate resources required to support staff.

Manage the ALN department budget to help plan appropriate provision.

Overall responsibility for ensuring that all learners who have ALN have an IDP

Ensure that records of decisions about ALN are kept

Promote learner inclusion in the school community and access to the schools curriculum, facilities and extra-curricular activities.

Have regard to the views, wishes and feelings of the child, the childs parent or the young person.

Advise teachers at the school about differentiated teaching methods appropriate for individual pupils with ALN

Supervise and arrange for the training of learning support assistants who work with learners with ALN

Ensure secure record keeping of pupil data pertaining to ALN and keep securely for the statutory amount of time

Ensure that regular reviews for learners in are undertaken and, where appropriate, lead the review process to ensure provision continues to meet identified needs;

Ensure IDPs are developed and reviewed appropriately;

Liaise with exams officers and specialist teachers when seeking reasonable adjustments for examinations;

Training and Professional Development

Be a source of expertise on ALN by developing specialist skills and knowledge; keeping up-to-date on the latest guidance and support available for ALN;

Provide professional support to all staff to enable the early identification, assessment and planning for learners with ALN

The successful candidate should hold relevant ALN qualifications that would give them the knowledge and expertise to lead the schools ALN requirements. Alongside qualifications the school also require:

Strong organisational skills

Strong knowledge of ASD and trauma informed

Understanding of business management and budget control

Confident to write and review IDPs

Management and leadership qualities

Strong verbal and written communication skills
