Principal duties of the post


Teaching, learning and assessment.

a) planning and preparing teaching and learning programmes for groups and individuals.

b) teaching according to the educational needs of the students in your programme, including setting and marking work to be carried out by the students.

c) developing and using a range of teaching and learning techniques.

d) managing the learning process and establishing an effective learning environment

e) managing the integration of new technologies and key skills in taught sessions.

f) providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students

g) participating in arrangements for preparing students for public examinations and assessing them for such examinations; recording and reporting such assessments; and participating in arrangements for students’ presentation for and supervision during such examinations.


Pastoral care

a) promoting the general progress and well-being of individual students on your programme

b)  providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and future careers, including information about sources of more expert advice on specific questions; making relevant records and reports.

c) making records of and reports on students' personal and social needs.

d) communicate and consult with the student's parents.

e) communicating and cooperating with persons or organisations outside the partner school.

f) participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above.


Continuing professional review and development

a) participating in arrangements to review your performance.

b) review your methods of teaching and work programmes from time to time.

c) participating in arrangements for your further training and professional development.

d) attendance at all required partner school CPD training sessions.


Curriculum development and quality improvement

a) advising and cooperating with the APST, partner school management, and other teachers on preparing and developing courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, teaching and assessment methods, and pastoral arrangements.

b) ensuring quality assurance within the department.

c) be flexible and responsible when preparing and delivering new curriculum.

d) stay current with sector changes, such as entry requirements and standards, and adjust your curriculum accordingly.


Discipline, health and safety.

a) maintaining good order and discipline among the students and safeguarding their health and safety when on partner school premises and in authorised out-of-partner school activities elsewhere.

b) displaying high levels of customer care at all times.

c) promoting APST and partner school policies and procedures.


Maintain high professional standards.

a) smart dress and a professional image.

b) adhere to all elements of the partner school’s safeguarding procedures and ensure that the best interests of young people are prioritised

c) embrace the partner school equality policy and ensure parity of esteem to all colleagues and students.

d) work in line with the staff code of conduct.

e) display a positive and caring attitude.


Cover

Supervising and providing work for any student whose teacher is not available to teach them within all APST partner schools guidelines as far as practicable.


Administration

a) participating in administrative and organisational tasks related to the abovementioned duties.

b) attending partner school functions in support of ASPT, as appropriate.

c) lead the recruitment of future students through attendance at all appropriate open evenings, presentations in year 11 form classes

d)  develop and market the APST programme as required within local partner schools.

e) attend open days, marketing events, and parents’ evenings as required.

 

Summary of Main Terms and Conditions

Salary

Qualified Teacher. Currently £28,000 - £38,810

Unqualified teacher. Currently £20,598 - £32,134


Working Hours

You will be required to be at your designated APST Education and Training partner school between 8.30 and 16.00 teaching days during term time (based on the specific requirements of your partner school). You can work flexibly on non-teaching days, whether on-site or from home.


You are expected to attend an APST weekly departmental meeting in person or virtually. You will need to attend all required after-school events in your home school as required.


Place of Work

APST Education and Training operate in multiple partner school establishments in the North-West. This post is specific for a teacher in our school in Kirkby, Liverpool, with attendance at another site as needed.

Paid holiday entitlement

You are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks or 39.2 days of statutory holidays. All holidays will automatically coincide with the closure periods within APST Education and Training, our partner schools, and public holidays. No holidays are permitted during term time.

The application will require two references; one must be your most recent employer.


Reviews

You will have regular reviews to assess your progress and set mutually agreed targets.
