Job Requirements/Description

Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to join our inclusive and dynamic team, working with primary and secondary-aged students who require one-to-one support. The role primarily involves supporting an individual pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), often outlined within an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). You will work closely under the direction of the class teacher, ensuring that the pupil receives tailored support to thrive in their educational environment. The role is further supported by the Inclusion Lead and the Primary SENCo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
  • Assist in the implementation of the pupils EHCP, working closely with the class teacher to adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupils needs.
  • Support the pupil in developing social skills, independence, and confidence within the school environment.
  • Monitor and report on the pupils progress to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Work collaboratively with the school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Help manage any challenging behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, in a school or similar setting within the last 2 years.
  • Experience with personal care
  • Understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN and a commitment to supporting their learning and development.
  • DBS registered onto the update service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with additional needs.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs.
  • Experience working with pupils with an EHCP.
  • Health and social care training including safeguarding and restraint training.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday between 8.30am - 4pm (school day)
