Legal Secretary

Total Staff Services is recruiting on behalf of a specialist solicitor firm based in Hoylake, Wirral, for a Legal Secretary to join their Court of Protection department.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with an award-winning firm specialising in mental capacity and mental health law. The role involves providing essential administrative support to senior fee earners and ensuring the smooth operation of the department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual with legal secretary experience and a genuine interest in mental health law. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act is desirable, and we welcome applications from candidates who are eager to develop their expertise in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurate audio typing of correspondence and documents using digital dictation.
• Managing diaries, key dates, and appointments for fee earners.
• Opening, closing, and archiving files.
• Communicating with clients, experts, hospitals, and courts, and handling enquiries professionally.
• Accurate time recording and meeting critical deadlines.
• General administrative tasks, including photocopying, scanning, and filing.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience as a legal secretary, preferably in mental health law.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (desirable).
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in IT and digital dictation software.
