We are in search of an accomplished Director of Legal to guide our client’s legal team, near Liverpool.
The ideal candidate must have a commercial law background, preferably within the construction sector, and be capable of delivering strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and various departments across the organisation. Their work will actively support smooth company operations, and provide essential support to the workforce.
The Role and Responsibilities:
- Offer authoritative legal guidance on diverse matters, including contractual agreements, regulatory adherence, and risk management.
- Oversee and lead the legal department, ensuring the efficient and effective provision of legal services.
- Draft, examine, and negotiate intricate commercial contracts and agreements.
- Advise on legal and commercial issues pertinent to construction projects.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks, overseeing litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to support the company’s business objectives and strategies.
- Maintain current knowledge of legal trends and developments that could affect the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience.
- Extensive experience in commercial law, with a marked preference for candidates with expertise in the construction industry.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a strong legal team.
- Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Outstanding communication skills in written and spoken English.
