Techyard is a Recruitment business based in Liverpool, having recently acquired a new
subsidiary and with plans to further grow internationally. Techyard represents the Recruitment
Division of a larger group, including a venture capital fund and associated investments, and
provides support for internal group hires as well as growing external business.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial activities of the Company and the
overall Group recruitment division. The successful candidate will be the primary finance lead for
the division, reporting divisional results directly to the Group Financial Controller and Lead
Investors. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to play a critical part in integrating the
recruitment arm into the broader group, driving financial performance, and supporting strategic
growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
? Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and
managing the relationship with the invoice discounters.
? Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and develop robust
financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
? Management Accounts: Oversee the preparation of management accounts, ensuring
timely and accurate financial information is available to support decision-making.
? Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 2 direct reports, fostering a
high-performance culture.
? Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls and support external
audit processes. Maintain a strong internal control environment.
? Business Partnering: Act as a finance business partner to divisional leaders, providing
financial insights and support to drive business performance and growth.
? Integration: Support the financial integration of the recruitment business into the wider
group, ensuring alignment with group policies and procedures.
? Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance
efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.
? Ad-hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required by senior
management.
Qualifications and Skills
? Education: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
? Experience: 3-5 years post-qualified experience, with experience in a finance
management role, experience with consolidations, invoice discounting, contractors and
the recruitment industry is advantageous
? Technical Skills: Strong technical accounting skills with a thorough understanding of
UK GAAP.
? Leadership: Proven experience in managing and developing a team.
? Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to
interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
? Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively
interacting with senior management and other stakeholders.
? IT Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial
management systems including Bullhorn, SunMicrosystems and, or Xero is an advantage.
